Copacabana Prepares for the Everyone to Rio Concert on May 2
Rio's biggest free-beach concert since the Madonna and Lady Gaga events of 2024 and 2025 is locked in for May 2. The "Everyone to Rio" concert returns to Copacabana Beach with a headline lineup — still being finalized but expected to feature Shakira, Beyoncé, Rihanna, and U2 — that would make it the biggest pop spectacle in Rio's 2026 calendar. The previous edition, Lady Gaga's free show in 2025, drew an estimated 1.6 million people and set a record for a free beach concert in the city.
Copacabana's 2.5 miles of beachfront allow for staging that defies every rule of conventional concert production, and Rio's municipal government has been increasingly ambitious about using the beach as a global stage. The 2026 show is scheduled to pair with promotional programming around the upcoming Olympic infrastructure investments.
If you're going: the beach is free to access; premium pod reservations will be available through official partners. Metro Line 1 and 4 run extended service. Book a hotel in Copacabana, Ipanema, or Leme for walking access — all rides become impossible.
